‘Frank’s Kitchen’ is no more.
We don’t have a town dump, or a pub, or a post office.
So where does one go to exchange news, opinions and bad jokes with friends and neighbors?
Coffee Hour at the Olivia Rodham Memorial Library is every Saturday morning from 10 – 11 am.
Stop by on your way to your Saturday errands for a cup of coffee and a chance to chat.
There tend to be some tasty snacks as well – it’s always a surprise!
‘Frank’ in this case is Frank Upton, one of Nelson’s loveable residents.
The story of Frank and his kitchen, which was a gathering place for all to come in for coffee, to tell tall tales, or simply to socialize, is endearingly told in a story by Karen Tolman, “Frank’s Kitchen”.
“What it was”, Barry says, “was that the kitchen door was always open – that old door scratched by generations of dogs – it was always open and everybody was welcomed in by Frank.”
So now we throw open the doors of the library and hold our own, very welcoming, coffee hour.
